Collaborating with Mary’s Meals

Chapel & York is pleased to have collaborated with Mary’s Meals on two new guides designed to improve understanding of Donor-Advised Funds (DAFs) among both charitable supporters and fundraising professionals.

Mary’s Meals provides nutritious school meals to children living in some of the world’s poorest communities. By serving meals in a place of education, the organisation encourages children into the classroom, helping them gain the skills and knowledge that can offer a route out of poverty.

A practical guide for supporters

The first guide provides supporters with a clear and accessible introduction to DAFs. It explains how they work, why donors choose to use them and how they can help people manage their charitable giving and support the causes that matter most to them.

We hope it will encourage more supporters to consider how DAFs could help them give more intentionally while advancing the vital mission of Mary’s Meals.

A practical guide for fundraisers

The second guide looks at DAFs from a charity’s perspective, giving fundraising teams the knowledge and practical tools they need to engage with this growing area of philanthropy.

It covers how to recognise and record DAF gifts, work effectively with providers, identify potential DAF donors, prepare internal systems, manage due diligence and build strong, long-term donor relationships. It also includes a DAF-readiness checklist, insights from the experience of Mary’s Meals and the perspective of a DAF donor.

Chapel & York was proud to contribute its international philanthropy expertise to both publications. Particular thanks go to Kurstin Finch Gnehm for sharing her knowledge and helping to bring these valuable resources to life.

We congratulate Mary’s Meals on the launch of both guides and hope they will help donors and fundraisers alike use DAFs to create even greater charitable impact.
