Four easy steps

STEP 1

Register

Register your charity for an account. This will give you access to your account; holding your CRM, donation forms, campaigns, email & more. Tell us about your organisation and submit standard bank and registration documents. Applications are approved within 10 working days. There is a one-time processing fee of £350.

Proof of charitable status, if any (e.g., IRS 501(c)(3) letter, Charities Commission certificate, etc.); information about your charitable work; latest copy of financial records including a recent bank statement; name and contact details of three Trustees/Directors.

Your application cannot be considered unless we have received a fully completed form with all required documentation.

STEP 2

Join Foundation(s)

Select the international countries you want to fundraise from. Fill out the application forms for each foundation. You can start with one country and expand as your international fundraising grows. There is a yearly charge per chosen membership.

Your application is evaluated against the criteria required for each foundation you would like to join as different countries have different requirements. We will review your governing documents, mission, vision, current activities, and ﬁnancial statements to ensure your organisation is able to receive grants in the appropriate countries. Once we are satisﬁed that your organisation meets the criteria for each country, the Board of each Foundation is notified of your desire to set up a fund. If they have objections you will be notified and your membership fee will be immediately refunded.

In the event of your application being rejected you will be refunded the membership fee. The due diligence fee is non-refundable.

An Agent’s Agreement must also be completed for the Canada Foundation before we can establish your fund. See the Canada Foundation web page for more information.

STEP 3

Fundraise

Accept donations via card using an online form, cheque, wire transfer, or stocks and securities. This can be for general purposes, or you have the option to create specific campaigns. Donors will receive a local tax receipt as appropriate.

STEP 4

Receiving a grant

Grants are paid into your designated bank account on a monthly basis for all Foundations.

90-Day Temporary Fund

£0

Ideal option if you are expecting a one‑off or urgent donation to quickly fundraise

There is a 8% retention rate.

Starter Fund

£700 pa

Best option if you want in-country donors to be eligible for tax benefits

There is a 4.5% retention rate.

Professional Fund

£2,500 pa

For an in-country presence and expecting to receive high value donations

There is a 2.5% retention rate.

For annual funds, there is a one‑time processing fee of £350 to register for a fund before completing the application form to join the Foundations. For a Temporary Fund, the £350 processing fee applies each time purchased.

Is there a discount if I join more than one Foundation?

Join multiple Foundations at the Starter or Professional level and receive a 5% discount on annual fees for each additional fund. This also includes a reduced processing fee of £100 for each additional fund. The discount applies only to Basic and Professional funds beyond the first.

Memberships can be upgraded at renewal. Requests to upgrade a membership can be submitted to upgrades@chapel-york.com.
