
Shireen Abrishamian
Shireen Abrishamian is an artist, educator, and founder of the arts nonprofit Dominant Romantic Gene (DRG). As an artist, she has exhibited her works at institutions such as the Jewish Museum, The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, CUE Art Foundation, and A.I.R. Gallery. She studied visual art and philosophy at Sarah Lawrence College and Columbia University, where she completed her master's while working at various New York City galleries and art nonprofits. She is currently working towards her Ph.D. dissertation in art theory at the Institute for Doctoral Studies in the Visual Arts (IDSVA). Shireen teaches performance art at Columbia University and lectures at academic conferences internationally. In addition to her work at DRG, Shireen fundraises for the nonprofit Norooz Foundation, which serves humanitarian needs in and around Iran. Most of her time is spent at her live-work studio in Brooklyn, NY with her very small dog, Minou.
